Our RECTOR

THE REVEREND JOHN PAUL WADLIN, Rector
AND Mrs. PAM WADLIN
Fr. John-Paul is a 66-year-young, high-energy priest who became our rector on September 1st, 2002. He was formerly the rector of St. John's, Mt. Prospect, Illinois. He has long been involved with the Anglican Fellowship of Prayer and with Cursillo, is a chaplain in the Order of St. Luke healing ministry, and served as Diocesan Ecumenical Officer and Anglican Renewal Ministries Coordinator in the Diocese of Fredericton, while serving on the national board of ARM-Canada. He was chosen by his bishop for an international pulpit exchange to the Diocese of Leicester, England in 1993. Prior to entering holy orders, Fr. John-Paul served for 22 years in middle management, ten with Sears and twelve with Hugh M. Woods Co. This experience has served him well in ministry. During his five years as rector of the Parish of Minto & Chipman, it became self-supporting for the first time in nineteen years, while launching many lay-led ministries. In the Parish of Hampton, old power cliques were broken and the total membership more than doubled through the addition of young families during his two-year rectorship there. And in both of those parishes, the growth has continued to this day. At the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Cranberry Township, the parish retired $25,000 in mortgage arrears and were current on all their diocesan obligations during the three years he pastored there, becoming self-supporting for the first time in nine years. During his three years at St. John's, Mt. Prospect, old and deep divisions were overcome and replaced with a new feeling of unity, service and love. Fr. John-Paul also served as Cursillo Spiritual Advisor for the Diocese of Chicago. He is currently Rural Dean of the Sierra Deanery in the Diocese of San Joaquin, Chaplain for the Ridgecrest Regional Hospital, Chaplain for the Ridgecrest Police Department, and Past President of the Indian Wells Valley Christian Ministers' Fellowship/Association.
Fr. John-Paul has an Associate of General Studies degree from Arapahoe College in Littleton, Colorado; a Bachelor of Theology degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada; and a Diploma in Ministry from Montreal Diocesan Theological College. He is a native of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada and holds both Canadian and U.S. citizenship. The Wadlins have four grown children with spouses and twelve grandchildren living in southern California, Guam, and Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada, plus a foster-daughter in Toronto, Canada. Fr. John-Paul and Pam have been married for 21 years in a joyous, Christ-centered relationship.
Pam Wadlin is 61 years of age, and has been actively involved in parish ministry both prior to and since Fr. John-Paul's ordination to the priesthood. She has served on the diocesan board of the Anglican Fellowship of Prayer, and as Convener for the Order of St. Luke healing ministry. She and Fr. John-Paul have been guest speakers at conferences both jointly as well as independently, most recently at the 2005 Clergy & Spouse Conference in the Anglican Diocese of Kitale, Keyna. During their 17-day mission trip to Kenya in August of 2005, they spoke at St. Luke's Pro-Cathedral Anglican Church in Kitale, St. Paul's Anglican Church in Lodwar, and at Open Blessings Pentecostal Church in the slums of Nairobi. They jointly led a 3-day Parish Mission in June 2003 at St. Peter's Anglican Church in Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia, Canada. The year before that Fr. John-Paul was the Evangelist at the week-long 2002 Atlantic Christian Ashram in Berwick, Nova Scotia. On her own, Pam has addressed ACWs Congregations, Mothers' Union, Mothers of Pre-Schoolers, and various women's groups, and has conducted seminars in Christian Marriage, Anger Management, Fair Fighting, Self-Esteem, Parenting, Worry, and Volunteer Recruitment. She made her Cursillo Weekend in the Diocese of Chicago in 1980, and has served on Cursillo teams in the dioceses of Colorado, Montreal, Fredericton and Pittsburgh. One of Pam's main ministries in each parish where she has served has been one-on-one counseling with women; she also assists Fr. John-Paul in marriage counseling, and exercises a strong hospitality ministry at the rectory. At Resurrection, Pam served as licensed Layreader, Eucharistic Minister, Prayer Team member, Music Secretary, small group leader, Growth Team member, and board member of The Little Yellow House (a Used Clothing and Food Bank outreach to the community). She is a native of Mt. Vernon, IL, and is currently employed by the Department of Defense as Office Manager of Information Warfare Systems at the nearby China Lakes Naval Air Weapons Station. She is also currently serving serving as a Lay Minister and Licensed Preacher here at St. Michael's. Pam has one sister, Diane, living in Long Beach.
